Electric Vehicle Courses
Course Structure
This course combines classroom-based learning and hands-on workshop sessions to provide a comprehensive training experience. It is hosted at MITSkills’ Brentford Green Skills Hub and Motor Vehicle training facility, ensuring access to state-of-the-art tools and resources.
Core Modules
Safe Use of Specialist Tools, Level 3:
- Operation of multimeters to diagnose electrical, open circuit, short circuit, and resistance faults in electric and hybrid vehicle components.
- Fault diagnosis and repair techniques.
- Preparing vehicles for maintenance and servicing, focusing on electric and hybrid systems.
Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Systems, Level 2.2-3:
- Components and operation of electric and hybrid vehicle systems.
- Hazards associated with electric/hybrid vehicles and risk mitigation.
- Safe procedures for routine maintenance and repairs on high-energy electrical systems.
F-Gas Certification, Level 3:
- Training to achieve the F-Gas Certificate, ensuring safe and environmentally responsible refrigerant handling as per DEFRA standards.
- Awareness for maintenance, focusing on electric and hybrid systems.
Course Materials
Learners attending the Motor Sector Green Skills Bootcamp will need to bring the following materials to support their learning experience:
Required Course Materials:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Safety boots.
Work gloves.
Safety glasses.
Notebook and Stationery:
Notepad for taking notes during classroom sessions.
Pens, pencils, and a highlighter.
Digital Devices (optional but recommended):
A tablet, laptop, or smartphone for accessing online resources and taking digital notes.
Relevant Documentation:
Proof of existing qualifications (required for enrolment validation).
These materials will complement the equipment and resources provided at the training facility, ensuring learners are fully prepared for both the classroom and practical sessions.

The Motor Sector Green Skills Bootcamp offers a variety of progression pathways, equipping learners with advanced skills and certifications essential for success in the rapidly evolving motor industry. Graduates will be well-positioned to step into higher-skilled roles or further their training to enhance their expertise.
This programme also prepares participants to take on additional responsibilities, such as leading green technology initiatives or mentoring and training other technicians within their organisations.

8 sessions, 1 day per week
Electric/Hybrid Course Delivery:
Thursdays: January 16th, 23rd, 30th, and February 6th
F-Gas Course Delivery:
Tuesdays: February 11th, 18th, 25th, and March 4th

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 19 years old.
- Be employed by an SME (less than 250 employees).
- Have the legal right to work in the UK (this can be verified at gov.uk/view-right-to-work).
- Applicants must be living in London or Greater London (Please note that spaces for Hounslow residents will be prioritised).
- Hold a recognised Level 3 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

All qualifications must be submitted at least working 3 days prior to the start of the course. Failure to do so may result in being unable to attend the training sessions.
