Duration

Minimum 35 hours

This apprenticeship unit is delivered flexibly to fit around the learner’s job role, allowing employers to upskill staff efficiently while maintaining productivity.

Progression Routes

This unit opens up several clear progression pathways within the electrical and renewable energy sectors, particularly as demand for solar PV and low-carbon technologies continues to grow.

Learners who complete this unit can progress into roles such as solar PV installer, electrical maintenance engineer, or renewable energy technician, working across domestic, commercial, and industrial environments. It also provides a strong foundation for expanding into related technologies such as battery storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, and smart energy systems.

For those looking to further develop their qualifications, this unit can support progression onto advanced electrical installation courses, inspection and testing qualifications, or specialist renewable energy training.

In the longer term, learners may move into supervisory or project management roles, specialise in renewable technologies, or develop their own business within the growing low-carbon and energy sector.

    Entry Requirements

    Learners must:

    • Be employed in England with a contract of employment
    • Be aged 19 or over
    • Spend a significant proportion of their working hours in England and have the right to work in the UK
    • Be undertaking training that is directly relevant to their job role
