Green Skills Bootcamps

Who is the course for?

This qualification is aimed at experienced and practising electrical operatives wishing to achieve a nationally recognised qualification in the installation and maintenance of small-scale grid tied photovoltaic systems and in the design, installation and commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems (Battery Storage).

Solar Systems and Energy Storage

Course Structure

This course will involve a mix of classroom and simulated practical learning in our workshops.

The initial 30% of the course will include the Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation and Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) qualification.

This will ensure that participants have the appropriate qualification, skills and knowledge to progress onto either our Solar PV level 3 qualification.

You will receive both practical and theoretical training in the following areas:

• Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems. • The solar resource • System configurations • Solar system design • Solar modules • Solar module mounting structures & arrays • Electrical wiring of the solar system and associated components * • Solar modules • Grid-connected solar systems • Charge controllers • Batteries • Practical PV wiring and maintenance sessions • Sizing solar systems • System testing & commissioning Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS). • Battery system modes • Battery system design • Legislation for a switched alternative source of energy • Battery packaged systems – coupling • Electrical wiring of the battery system and associated components • Grid-connected battery systems • Sizing battery systems • System testing & commissioning.

Additional Aims:

• Employability Skills • Workplace communication • Decision making / problem solving • CV Preparation • Interview techniques • Green Skills business advice.
