Who is the course for? You should be employed in the vehicle refinishing trade or actively seeking a job in the trade. This can be in either a light or heavy vehicle workshop. You should have a keen interest in vehicle refinishing (painting). You should have a good eye for detail and colour. What will I study? You will study the various techniques in preparing vehicle panels. You will learn how to mix and apply various types of primers and how to mix, tint and apply various types of colour and laquers. You will also learn how to rectify minor paint defects. You will study at a purpose built college. This will be roughly seven weekly blocks per year. Accommadation will be found for you. What will I need for the course? You should have a good eye for detail and colour. You should be a ‘clean’ worker and be able to work on your own. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed by a competent assessor in the college were you study. You will also be assessed by your assessor in your workplace How long is the course? 2 years for a level 2 apprenticeship What do I gain if successful? A recognised Level 2 and Level 3 Framework Apprenticeship which will enable you to work in the industry and progress to a fruitful career. The Cost For all candidates aged 16-18 the course is fully funded by the Government. It is available to anybody that is working in the industry.
