Testimonials and Case Study
From GCSEs to Garage work
Trainee mechanic Nyaradazayi Chiriya can often be found underneath cars repairing faults for customers at a popular village garage, but the 18 year old has his sights set on a career in management.
Nyare, as he is known to workmates at Station Garage in Liphook, took his GCSEs in 2005, then signed up onto a course at Motor Industry Training (MIT) to learn about the world of work.” It started off as something to do because I was bored after doing my exams but I got more interested and went on to find out more about being a motor mechanic” he said.
Motor Industry Training Supported Nyare through his pre Apprenticeship course, learning about vehicles in both a classroom and workshop environment. He then enrolled on the full Apprenticeship and MIT helped him get the job. I combine work with going to the College. I will soon be qualified as I am doing Level 3 qualifications now. I would like to go on to level 4 with MIT, learning about management.
If you think you would like to follow the footsteps of Nyare or the hundreds of other students that MIT train every year at their West Byfleet Training Centre. Please contact us to see when we are holding the next open evening.
