Youthwork Apprenticeship Level 2 and Level 3

Youthwork Apprenticeships provide learners with knowledge and skills needed to progress within a youth support role. Areas covered include encouraging young people in their personal, social and educational development, and facilitating and supporting young people’s growth.

  • Child and young person development
  • Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
  • Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
  • Help improve own and team practice in schools
  • Maintain and support relationships with children and young people
  • Support children and young people’s positive behaviour
  • Support learning activities
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain learning environments

What will I need for the course?

  • You will need to be employed in the industry.
  • You should be flexible, creative, passionate, energetic and a team player.

How will I be assessed?

  • Your skills and knowledge will be assessed in the work place by an appointed assessor/tutor who will assess your skills, competence and knowledge.
  • You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:
  • Coursework
  • Exams
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Workplace assessment

How long is the course?

  • Level 2 is 18 -24 months,
  • Level 3 is one additional year.

What will I gain if successful?

  • You will gain a Level 2 Learners Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning are eligible to progress to Level 3 Award/ Certificate/Diploma. Learners can also seek opportunities within primary, special and secondary schools in both state and independent sectors, or seek a move into roles across the wider children’s workforce such as child care, youth work or other related sectors.

How much does it cost?

  • for all candidates aged 16-18 the course is fully funded by the Government. It is available to anybody working in the industry.
  • outside of the 16-18 age group costs will be dependent on individual candidate and employer details.
