Food and Beverage Services Apprenticeship Level 2 and Level 3

The qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above.
Level 2:This qualification is designed for apprentice’s employed in hospitality roles such as chefs, housekeepers or receptionists, who need to develop or consolidate their skills.
Level 3: This qualification is designed for apprentice’s employed in hospitality roles for example bar people/managers, chefs or conference and banqueting assistants/managers, who need to develop or consolidate their skills.

  • 16 + working in the industry

What will I study?

  • Level 2: You are required to take mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, giving customers a positive impression of themselves and their organisation and cleaning and servicing a range of housekeeping areas in a hospitality environment.
  • Level 3 . You must take mandatory units that cover aspects of setting objectives and providing support for team members, developing working relationships with colleagues, contributing to the control of resources, maintaining the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment, and leading a team to improve customer service in a hospitality environment.

What will I need for the course?

  • This qualification requires you to be working in a professional kitchen environment and to attend college once a week or be seen by your training provider regularly.

How will I be assessed?

  • You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:
  • Course work
  • Exams Portfolio of evidence
  • Practical demonstration /assignment
  • Practical examination
  • Written examination

How long is the course?

  • Level 2 is 18 -24 months,
  • Level 3 is one additional year.

What will I gain if successful?

  • You will gain a Level 2 Intermediate Food and Beverage Services Qualification you can then progress to completing a Level 3 Advanced Food and Beverage Services Qualification.
  • Completing your Level 3 Advanced Food and Beverage Services Qualification can help you to progress in a wide range of hospitality roles including: Bar staff, Table or counter service, Kitchen assistant, Housekeeping or an Administration postion within theses areas.

How much does it cost?

  • for all candidates aged 16-18 the course is fully funded by the Government. It is available to anybody working in the industry.
  • outside of the 16-18 age group costs will be dependent on individual candidate and employer details.
