Children and Young People's Workforce Apprenticeship Level 2 and Level 3

The qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above. This qualification is designed to help you build the knowledge and skills needed when working under supervision with children and young people from birth to 19 years of age. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children’s settings including early years and social care.

  • 16 + working in the industry

What will I study?

  • Promote communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Understand child and young person development
  • Promote child and young person development

What will I need for the course?

  • You will need to be employed with a company and attend college once a week or be seen by your training provider regularly.

How will I be assessed?

  • You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:
  • Course work
  • Exams Portfolio of evidence
  • Practical demonstration /assignment
  • Practical examination
  • Written examination

How long is the course?

  • Level 2 is 18 -24 months,
  • Level 3 is one additional year.

What do I gain if successful?

  • Once you have successfully completed your Level 2 qualification you can progress into the NCFE Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce. Successful completion of the Level 3 advanced qualification confirms competence and serves as the required qualification to get a job in the sector. You should choose this qualification if you’d like to work in the areas of: Social Care Learning, Development and Support Services

How much does it cost?

  • for all candidates aged 16-18 the course is fully funded by the Government. It is available to anybody working in the industry.
  • outside of the 16-18 age group costs will be dependent on individual candidate and employer details.
