M.I.T. Skills work together with local schools to ensure learners benefit from a nationally recognised work-based qualification. The qualification that shows employers they are competent to carry out the jobs in hand. The qualifications also improve communication, maths and English skills, whilst letting the learners work at their own pace. This gives them the qualifications needed to start a career and increase earning potential.
The traineeship differs from an apprenticeship programme in that candidates may be unclear on which vocational pathway they wish to follow or they are unprepared for the world of work. A traineeship takes a flexible approach allowing the applicant to build their general work-based skills. A trainee programme equips candidates with a wide range of skills from using and identifying tools in our workshops, functional skills in maths and English, to building a CV and winning interview techniques. The program combines study with on the job training in an industry placement. The candidate attends an industry placement 4 days a week which is combined with off-the-job training on the 5th day. On satisfactory completion of their work placement candidates will progress to a Level 2 Apprenticeship. The traineeship is anticipated to take between 3 to 6 months, depending on the individual candidate.
A Pre-Apprenticeship is work based training which combines on the job practical training with part-time study. It is designed for school leavers who are not involved in full-time education. The learner works alongside an experienced member of staff to gain job-specific skills, and a vocational qualification.
An apprenticeship is work based training which combines practical training on a job with an in-depth study program. The apprentice is a full-time member of staff who combines on the job training with college attendance; this leads to nationally recognised qualifications that are specific to your business needs. Taking between 1 and 4 years to complete the apprentice works alongside an experienced member of staff, to gain job-specific skills. Designed for school levers not in full time education to gain qualifications relevant to an employer or the specific apprenticeship, or key functional skills.
Here at M.I.T. Skills we do not just provided standardised course, but can also create a tailor-made course to meet the requirements of the business and the apprentice. In addition we can also create advanced bespoke courses for experienced professionals who wish to gain new skills.
The process we undertake prior to creating a custom course is to first assess the clients requirements or the learners skills. Once we have assessed the needs we can proceed to create a customized course based on these needs. Working closely with the Construction and Automotive industries we aim to create cutting edge customised training programs that will benefit both the learner and the employer.
