MOT Test Centre Course

This course will develop the skills relating to the MOT Testing Routine, you will focus on: working safely in the test centre, working relationships, professional development, pre-test checks and how to conduct the MOT inspection.

Who is this qualification for?

  • This course replaces the Nominated Tester Training previously run by the DVSA. If you do not currently hold a valid MOT qualification, you will now have to gain an Award in MOT Testing Class 4 & 7, to conduct MOT Tests on cars and vans. This course will develop the skills relating to the MOT Testing Routine, you will focus on: working safely in the test centre, working relationships, professional development, pre-test checks and how to conduct the MOT inspection.

What do I need for the course?

Before you begin this course you must:
  • Have a current and full UK driving license for the vehicle classes you want to test
  • Be a skilled mechanic, with at least 4 years full-time employment in the service and repair of the vehicle types to be tested. (Apprentices who have been employed for 4 years are eligible.)

  • Have a Level 3 qualification recognised by DVSA / VOSA (for test class 3, 4, 5 or 7) or enquire to see if you are eligible to take our 1 day accreditation course.
  • Have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation
  • Be ‘of good repute’

What is the training?

There are three main parts to your assessment:
  • The course operates over 4 days and will cover both the practical and theory side of conducting an MOT on classes 4 & 7 vehicles.

How will I be assessed?

  • An online, multiple choice exam. This will be conducted during your 4 day course.
  • A practical observation of you completing an MOT inspection in our Motor Vehicle    Workshop.
  • A final test carried out by the DVSA, this will have to be booked by you using your Award in MOT Testing Class 4 & 7 certificate number (This will be covered in the course). This observation can be carried out at your place of work or at our workshop.

How much does it cost?

  • The cost of the course is £999. Did you know ? For all employers that currently have an apprentice with us we are offering a discount up to 20% for all our courses bespoke to the trade (Including F-Gas and Hybrid Training).   • Payments for these courses must be completed before the start of the course and all documents requested should be provided at the start of each course.
